A family friendly town located south east of Phoenix within the Phoenix metropolitan area. In 2010 Gilbert was recognized as the 36th best place to live in the nation by Money Magazine and greatschools.org. , and also named the safest community in the state based on the FBI Database.
There are numerous amenities in the town of Gilbert including four public golf courses with pristine greens that offer year round golf. Gilbert’s Cosmo Dog Park was named Dog Park of the Year in 2007 and has twice made the list of top dog parks in the nation by Dog Fancy Magazine’s since it’s opening in 2006. The town is also known to be bicycle and tree friendly by Gilbert’s own residents.
Today, Gilbert is a fast growing community that has transformed from a small farm town (population 5,717 in 1980) to an economically diverse suburban center. Greatschools.org called Gilbert “fast-growing suburb with a youthful population,”…with “a diverse mix of professional jobs in health, the sciences, high tech and renewable energy,” and, “safe.”
As of July 2009 Gilbert’s population was listed at 217,521 .
Gilbert residents continue to rate the town with high marks because of its ability to hold a small town feeling; it is clean, safe, and has a friendly atmosphere.
